Ingredients

  • 4 cups water
  • 2 teaspoons chicken better than bouillon (or 2 bouillon cube)
  • 1 cup dry orzo
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup half and half
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 2 teaspoons dried parsley
  • - salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese (not the green can stuff)

How To Make creamy tomato orzo

  • Step 1
    Bring water and bouillon to a boil in a large saucepan. Stir in orzo and return to a boil. Reduce heat slightly and cook 15 minutes, or until orzo is done. Drain excess liquid, if needed. Return to pan
  • Step 2
    Stir in butter, tomato paste, cream, basil and parsley. Bring back to temperature. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Step 3
    Just before serving, stir in parmesan cheese.
