    red onion, large
  • 3/4 Tbsp
  • 3 can(s)
    drained and rinsed navy beans
  • 1/2 c
    Annie’s Naturals Organic Smoky Maple BBQ Sauce (heaping)
  • 1/4 c
    blackstrap molasses
  • 1/3 c
    apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 c
    pure maple syrup
  • 3 Tbsp
    whole grain dijon mustard
  • 3 Tbsp
    tomato paste
  • 2 Tbsp
    liquid smoke (optional)

How to Make Vegan Baked Beans


  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot on the stove top over medium heat. Add the onion to the pot and cook until soft (about 5 minutes).
  2. Add the navy beans, BBQ sauce, molasses, apple cider vinegar, maple syrup, mustard, tomato paste, and liquid smoke (if using). Stir everything to combine and bring the ingredients to a low simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes.
