southern cornbread dressing
This was the kids fathers grandmothers recipe. Simple and easy is sometimes the best. I grew up on the bread type dressing it was when I got married I was introduced to cornbread dressing. Had to make both types for my family they couldn't choose between the 2.

Ingredients
- 2 cornbread ( recipe for is posted you will need 2)
- 5 hard boiled eggs
- 1 onion chopped
- 1 - 2 quarts chicken or turkey stock
- 2 teaspoons sage, dried
- 2 teaspoons thyme, dried
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
How To Make southern cornbread dressing

Step 1Prepare cornbread and allow to sit out for 1 -2 days to dry out. . it needs to be thoroughly dried out

Step 2Break dried cornbread and place in bowl

Step 3Cook chopped onions until clear add to broken up cornbread

Step 4Sprinkle herbs on cornbread and onions

Step 5Chop eggs and put in cornbread mixture and mix up

Step 6Pour 1 qt of stock onto cornbread mixture . continue adding until mixture is thoroughly soaked

Step 7Place in 9 x 13 greased pan and oat down. You can add a bit ore stock if you see its not soaked

Step 8Cover and bake 350° for 45 minutes

Step 9Uncover and bake until golden and it is not mushy when touched
