marinated onions

This recipe is so creamy & delicious. It takes away the strong onion taste, but still gives you the flavor. The recipe was given to me by a great friend from my church family. It is so simple & easy. The flavor will surprise you.

Ingredients

  • 3 - onions (sliced) (i used the big texas sweet onions, since they were big i only used 2)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup vinegar ( i used white)
  • tablespoon mayonnaise (enough to make creamy)
  • 1 teaspoon celery seeds
  • - salt to taste

How To Make marinated onions

  • Step 1
    Slice the onions into rings.( something like between 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick).Put in a sealable bowl.
  • Step 2
    Boil the water, sugar, & vinegar.
  • Step 3
    Pour over onion rings. Put on the lid.
  • Step 4
    Refrigerate over night.
  • Step 5
    The next day, DRAIN OFF liquid. Mix several Tablespoons of mayonnaise & the celery seeds. Add salt to taste.
  • Step 6
    Refrigerate until ready to serve.
