Cheese grits make a great accompaniment to any meal and they are a nice change from mashed potatoes.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cup quick-cooking grits
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/2 pound sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • cornflakes, crushed - enough to top casserole

How To Make cheese grits with parmesan/cornflake topping

  • Step 1
    Bring salted water to a boil and add grits - cook until thick.
  • Step 2
    Add butter and grated cheese - cool. When cool enough, add lightly beaten eggs and mix well. Add mixture to a 9 x 9 inch greased casserole dish.
  • Step 3
    Combine parmesan cheese and lightly crushed cornflakes together and sprinkle over the top of the casserole.
  • Step 4
    Bake 45 minutes at 350 degrees. Serve with your favorite meat dish.
