1Place beans in a Dutch oven or soup kettle; add water to cover by 2 inches. Bring to a boil; boil for 2 minutes. Remove from the heat; cover and let stand for 1 hour.
2Drain and rinse beans, discard water. Return beans to the Dutch oven. Add onions, enough water to cover by 2 inches. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 60-70 minutes or until beans are tender.
3Drain and discard liquid. Transfer to an ungreased 2-quart dish or bean pot. Add the remaining ingredients. Cover and bake at 350F for 25 minutes or until heated through.
