Ingredients
- 1 2/3 cups dried pinto beans
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 cup chunky salsa
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
How To Make brown sugar baked beans

Step 1Place beans in a Dutch oven or soup kettle; add water to cover by 2 inches. Bring to a boil; boil for 2 minutes. Remove from the heat; cover and let stand for 1 hour.

Step 2Drain and rinse beans, discard water. Return beans to the Dutch oven. Add onions, enough water to cover by 2 inches. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 60-70 minutes or until beans are tender.

Step 3Drain and discard liquid. Transfer to an ungreased 2-quart dish or bean pot. Add the remaining ingredients. Cover and bake at 350F for 25 minutes or until heated through.
