This is my "go-to" for covered dish holiday gatherings. I always bring home an empty dish.

method Stove Top
yield 10 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 6 large granny smith apples
  • 1 package fresh cranberries (12 oz)
  • 1 small lemon
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3/4 cup sweetened dried cranberries

How To Make double cranberry-apple sauce

  • Step 1
    Peel and dice the apples.
  • Step 2
Stir together the apples, cranberries, lemon, sugar and water in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring often. Reduce heat, simmer, stirring often until the cranberries pop and the mixture starts to thicken (about 15 min).
  • Step 3
Remove from heat, and stir in sweetened dried cranberries. Delicious served warm or cover and chill until ready to serve. Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
