Sauce Essentials: In-N-Out Burger Special Sauce

The In-N-Out burger is very simple: buns, American cheese, yellow onion, iceberg lettuce, beefsteak tomato, 80/20 ground chuck pounded into 1/4-inch patties and cooked for about a minute on each side. The real appeal is the special sauce.

As close as I can get it without knocking on their door and asking for the recipe, here you go.

Even if it is not an In N Out sauce, it is still pretty dang good.

So, your ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

  • 1/2 c
    mayonnaise, plain variety
  • 1/4 c
    ketchup, homemade, if possible
  • 1 Tbsp
    mustard, yellow variety
  • 2 tsp
    sweet pickle relish
  • 2 tsp
    dill pickle relish
  • 1 tsp
    worcestershire sauce, homemade, if possible
  • 1 tsp
    rice wine vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt, kosher variety
  • 1/2 tsp
    coconut sugar

  4. Add all the ingredients to a large mixing bowl.
  5. Whisk together until combined.
  6. Store in the fridge, using a tightly-sealed container, until ready to use.
  8. This sauce is great on a good burger, or other sandwiches. Enjoy.
