fresh herb and garlic compound butter

Believe it or not, I had never heard the term "compound butter" before my Schwan's driver left me a recipe for it. But it makes so much sense. You can use it on meats, vegetables, pasta and best of all--breads! I'm going to whip some up ASAP! Recipe: Schwans.com Photo: www.tastespotting.com

Ingredients

  • 1 stick butter, room temperature
  • 1/3 cup assorted fresh herbs (chives, thyme, parsley, rosemary), finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • - coarse salt and pepper

How To Make fresh herb and garlic compound butter

  • Step 1
    In a medium bowl, combine butter, any herb combination, Parmesan cheese, garlic, salt and pepper.
  • Step 2
    Place on waxed paper or plastic wrap and roll tightly to form a log. Twist ends to seal and chill for one hour or until firm.
  • Step 3
    Unroll and slice into tablespoon portions.
  • Step 4
    NOTE: Store butter in the fridge or freezer and slice as needed. One hour cooking time is time in the refrigerator.
