I make my own taco seasoning to avoid the preservatives and unnecessary 'extra' ingredients. Not to mention, my taco seasoning is so much better than the packets you can buy at the store.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 3 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

How To Make taco seasoning

  • Step 1
    Combine all spices and store in spice jar.
  • Step 2
    TO MAKE TACO MEAT: 1 pound of ground beef (chicken or turkey) to 1 tablespoon of taco seasoning. Brown meat in pan over med-high heat, breaking it up as it cooks. When no pink remaining, reduce heat, add seasoning and 1/8 cup of water. Heat until liquid is gone, stirring to combine flavors, 3-5 minutes. Great for tacos, burritos, salad, or nachos.
