I make my own taco seasoning to avoid the preservatives and unnecessary 'extra' ingredients. Not to mention, my taco seasoning is so much better than the packets you can buy at the store.

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp
    chili powder
  • 3 tsp
    ground cumin
  • 2 tsp
    salt
  • 2 tsp
    ground pepper
  • 1 tsp
    paprika
  • 1/2 tsp
    dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp
    crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    onion powder

How to Make Taco Seasoning

Step-by-Step

  1. Combine all spices and store in spice jar.
  2. TO MAKE TACO MEAT: 1 pound of ground beef (chicken or turkey) to 1 tablespoon of taco seasoning. Brown meat in pan over med-high heat, breaking it up as it cooks. When no pink remaining, reduce heat, add seasoning and 1/8 cup of water. Heat until liquid is gone, stirring to combine flavors, 3-5 minutes. Great for tacos, burritos, salad, or nachos.
