I put this combination of spices together for sprinkling over fresh hot fries. It did not disappoint. It might be good on other things, but I have yet to go beyond French fries. It has a spicy, smoky heat that really compliments freshly made fries. So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

How To Make spice essentials: zesty french fry seasoning

  • Step 1
    PREP/PREPARE
  • Step 2
Storage of homemade condiments and spices Because homemade spices and condiments do not contain any preservatives, it is important to store them properly. Non-reactive (glass) containers with tight-fitting lids are a must. If I am making a dry spice, I love to use old spice bottles that I have run through the dishwasher. If I am doing homemade sauces, I love using Weck jars. They are all glass, come in all sizes and shapes, and have excellent leakproof lids. If you shop online, you can go to Amazon, and type in “Weck Jars” and you will find a ton of them. Dry spices should be kept in a cool space, away from sunlight (spice cabinet), and sauces, in most cases, should be stored in the fridge. If properly stored this spice mix should last up to a year.

  • Step 4
The cayenne pepper gives it its heat, so you might want to play with that ingredient. Possibly by starting with half the amount and going from there.
  • Step 5
If you want all the ingredients to be uniform, you might give it a few pulses in a spice grinder; however, it is not necessary.
  • Step 6
Gather your ingredients (mise en place).
  • So yummy
    Step 7
Mix all the spices together, and then store in a non-reactive jar, until needed.
  • Step 8
    PLATE/PRESENT
  • So yummy
    Step 9
Sprinkle over freshly baked fries for a yummy treat or try it on something else and let me know how it goes. Enjoy.
  • Step 10
Keep the faith, and keep cooking.
