Healthy Italian Tomato Sauce

This sauce is a great tasting way to get those veggies in your diet. It's great on whole wheat pasta, pizza or your favorite recipes. It uses no heavy oils so it is low calorie too! Add my Healthy Italian Sausage and you have a winning combination!

  •   2 c
    seeded, and diced tomatoes
  •   2 c
  •   1
    onion, finely diced
  •   1
    bell pepper, finely diced
  •   2
    carrots, grated
  •   1
    celery stalk, grated
  •   4
    cloves of garlic, grated
  •   1 can(s)
    small - tomato paste
  •   2
    tablespoons, balsalmic vinegar
  •   1
    tablespoons, "tones" spagetti sauce seasoning
  •   1
    tablespoon brown sugar

How To Make

    Spray pan with cooking spray lightly. On medium heat cook onion and bell pepper until softened. Add the rest of the veggies, tomato paste, water, seasoning, and sugar.

    Simmer on low heat for 2 hours, stirring every 30 minutes. Season with salt and pepper as desired. This sauce freezes very well.
