Four years ago, my husband and I each lost 25 pounds. I joined a fitness website where we had to post our current weight and progress. As our weight came off pretty quickly, other members asked "What diet are you on?" The answer was "none". We ate all of our favorites, in moderation, and tried to "clean up" the family favorites that we could. My husband was addicted to a store bought chip dip that read like a chemistry exam. I promised him that I could replace it with a healthier alternative and that's how this dip came to be. Only 42 calories per serving 336 for the ENTIRE BOWL!!

Ingredients

  • 1 can cannelli beans, well drained
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1/2 cup sour cream, regular or light
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1/4 medium onion (...or personal taste)
  • 2 teaspoons dill weed
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt

How To Make french onion dill dip

  • Step 1
Combine all ingredients, except sour cream, in a small food processor. Process to desired consistency. (I like it smooth.)
  • Step 2
Place in bowl. Stir in sour cream. Refrigerate 3-4 hours. Serve with baked fries, sweet potato fries, chips, pita chips, crackers, bread cubes, chicken tenders or fresh veggies. Also great on baked potatoes! Kids love this and can't tell the difference between this and the high-fat alternative. High in fiber, as well.
  • Step 3
*** Using a light sour cream will produce a thinner dip.
