Tahini is not always available to make Hummus. In searching for a tasty alternative, I came up with a very simple and delicious recipe using peanut butter instead of tahini. This is my take on peanut butter hummus. This recipe is so simple and it takes a matter of minutes to make. Great for last minute gatherings or a very quick snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 can 15 ounce chick peas/garbanzos
  • 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
  • 3 cloves roasted garlic,minced
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • - roasted red peppers (optional topping)

How To Make hummus without tahini

  • Step 1
Drain beans over a bowl and reserve the juice.
  • Step 2
I like to take the hulls off the beans. This makes a smoother hummus, but you dont have to. Simply squeeze them by pinching them and the hulls will easily come off. If you skip this step, the hummus will not be as smooth, but the flavor will remain excellent.
  • Step 3
Add all ingredients except roasted red peppers to the food processor. Blend, and add the saved juices from the can in small amounts until you get the consistency you like.
  • Step 4
Top with finely chopped roasted red peppers if desired. I absolutely love this recipe with the roasted red peppers. Sprinkle with paprika and serve. Will keep in the fridge for a good week.
  • Step 5
Serve with your favorite crackers, pita, vegetables, you name it!
