There are long and short process for canning of pickles. This one is the short process, and much easier.

Ingredients

Add to Grocery List

1 gal
medium sized cucumbers, cut in 1" chunks
1/2 c
salt
boiling water
3 c
granulated sugar
3 c
apple cider vinegar
1 c
water
1/2 tsp
turmeric
1 tsp
dry mustard
1 tsp
allspice
1 tsp
mustard seed
1 tsp
celery seed

How to Make Sweet Pickles

Step-by-Step

  • 1Combine cucumber chunks and salt.
    Place in a large enamel pot, add boiling water to cover.
    Let stand overnight and then drain.
  • 2Mix together sugar, vinegar and spices in a big stock pot.
    When it comes to a boil add the pickles and return to the boiling point.
  • 3Spoon into hot sterilized jars and seal.
