This recipe is good for late fall days and not as much fresh fruit available to make but I am a fan of dried fruit. On Occassion have taken to big Family meals. We all just love the mixture of fruits and do alot of them in the spring and summer but this is a bit different and great for a Christmas dinner. Christmas dinner always calls for more plums it is traditional. I like this used like a salsa to be eaten with pork. The cook time is broken into 2 sections, 35-40 and 15-20

Ingredients

  • 2 packages mixed dried fruit (8 oz) cranberries, cherries, plums ( i use the sunsweet packaged individual), peaches, apricots etc...
  • 1 can 15 oz fruit cocktail (undrained)
  • 1 cup raisins ( small amount of water and heat to moisten)
  • 1 cup apple cider or juice
  • 1/2 cup brandy or apricot brandy or apple cider or juice
  • 4 1/2 teaspoons ginger- candied, chopped
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cardamon, ground
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons allspice, ground
  • 2 medium apples, chopped
  • 1 cup cranberries, frozen or fresh

How To Make spiced mixed fruit (salad)

  • Step 1
    In a 3 Qt baking dish, combine the first eight ingredients. Cover and bake 35-40 minutes 350*, fruit will soften.
  • Step 2
    Stir in apples and cranberries, Bake uncovered for 15-20 minutes apples are tender. Serve warm or at room temperature.
