grandma's chili sauce
This has been a favorite in my family passed down from my grandmother that was born before the 1900's. Use as marinade for meats or over meatloaf, or in place of ketchup. This is awesome with grilled hamburgers. Enjoy!

Ingredients
- 14 pounds roma tomatoes
- 4 cups chopped celery (2 bunches)
- 21/2 cups chopped onions
- 21/2 cups green bell peppers
- 6 sticks cinnamon sticks
- 41/2 cups brown sugar, lightly packed
- 1 quart apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon dry mustard
- 1 teaspoon cloves, ground
- 1/4 cup canning salt
How To Make grandma's chili sauce

Step 1Scald tomatoes, peel, core, and cut into chunks.

Step 2Put in large kettle, cook 15 minutes.

Step 3Drain off half of the juice (appproximately 6 cups).

Step 4Aff celery, onion, and green peppers. Simmer 11/2 hours.

Step 5Tie cinnamon sticks in a cheese cloth.

Step 6Addcinnamon sticks with brown sugar, vinegar, mustard, cloves, and salt.

Step 7Continue cooking another 11/2 hours, or until thick consistency.

Step 8Remove cinnamon sticks.

Step 9Fill hot pint jars.

Step 10Process 15 minutes in hot water bath. Remove from bath and place on towel to let bottles dry and cool.
