fresh tomato salsa
I am a fan of fairly straight-forward salsa... nothing too fancy or exotic. This basic recipe packs all the flavor punch you could want. I recently tried adding the oregano and now it's my new "secret" weapon... Give it a try!

Ingredients
- 4 pounds vine-ripened tomatoes
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1 cup fresh cilantro
- 1 - serrano or jalapeno chiles
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 3 tablespoons lime juice
- - kosher salt and fresh ground black pepper
- - oregano, dried, to taste
How To Make fresh tomato salsa

Step 1Quarter and seed tomatoes.

Step 2Dice the tomatoes and transfer to a bowl.

Step 3Finely chop onion and cilantro.

Step 4Seed and chop the chiles.

Step 5Stir chiles, onion, cilantro and garlic into tomatoes with sugar and lime juice and season with salt, pepper and oregano.

Step 6Note: For a less chunky texture, try using a food processor or blender... works great!
