This is another recipe we have for Bread and Butter Pickles that my cousins use. It differs a little from the recipe that my grandmother used.

Ingredients

  • CUCUMBER INGREDIENTS
  • 4 quarts sliced cucumbers
  • 6 medium onions, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 - green pepper, sliced thin
  • 1/3 cup salt
  • LIQUID INGREDIENTS
  • 3 cups apple cider vinegar
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons turmeric
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons mustard seed

How To Make bread and butter pickles 2

  • Step 1
    Slice up all your cucumber ingredients Put cucumbers, onions, peppers, garlic and salt in a large pot. Cover with water and let stand 4 hours.
  • Step 2
    Drain and rinse the cucumber mixture. Place in large pot. Add vinegar, sugar, turmeric and mustard seed. Bring to a boil and pack in hot sterile mason jars.
