This sauce is used on simple poached or steamed white fish. Pine nuts or hazelnuts (blanched and skins removed) can be used instead of almonds.

Ingredients
- 1 cup soft white breadcrumbs
- 1 cup ground blanched almonds
- 2 cloves garlic
- 3 tablespoons lemon juice
- 4-6 tablespoons cold water
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- - salt, to taste
- - paprika for serving (optional)
How To Make tarator (almond sauce)

Step 1Place breadcrumbs, almonds, garlic, lemon juice and 4 tablespoons water in a food processor, and process until thick and smooth.

Step 2With motor running, add oil in a thin stream. Add salt to taste and thin with remaining water if needed to make a thick creamy sauce.

Step 3Place in bowl and sprinkle with paprika, if desired.
