Great for an easy dinner after the game. Put it on in the morning and have a hearty meal waiting. Just cook your favorite pasta and serve with steamed veggies or a green salad and hot garlic bread.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey (or ground beef)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, peeled and chopped
  • 8 ounces sliced mushrooms (fresh)
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes, drained
  • 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
  • 2 cans (15 oz each) tomato sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 - bay leaf
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup basil pesto (jarred or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup dry red wine

How To Make slow cooker spaghetti sauce

  • Step 1
    In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown ground turkey and drain well. Transfer to slow cooker. In same pan, add oil and saute onion and mushrooms until onions are softened and mushrooms have started to give up their liquid. Transfer to slow cooker with meat.
  • Step 2
    Add remaining ingredients and mix well.
  • Step 3
    Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours.
  • Step 4
    Serve over your favorite cooked pasta and sprinkle with grated parmesan, if desired.
