  • 3 1/4 c
    milk
  • 3 Tbsp
    butter, plus
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    butter
  • 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 c
    shredded cheese (cheddar, or a blend of american and jack)

Step-by-Step

  1. Heat milk over medium heat until just hot.
  2. In a large sauce pan, melt butter. Add flour and whisk until smooth.
  3. Add hot milk, stirring constantly.
  4. Add shredded cheese. Cook for 12-15 minutes, stirring frequently, until smooth and thick.
