Layer this with lasagna pasta, mozzarella cheese and Bechamel sauce for an awesome lasagna. NO: do not use Cottage cheese or Ricotta cheese with this recipe.

Ingredients

  • - 1 pound of extra lean ground beef (such as 97/3 or 96/4)
  • - 1 one pound can of diced tomatoes
  • - 1 ½ cloves of garlic - crushed...can use frozen chopped garlic or dehydrated garlic
  • - 1 -15 ounce can of tomato sauce (can may vary by ½ ounce or there abouts, that’s ok)
  • - 2 tablespoons of parsley flakes ...i use dehydrated (fresh is ok)
  • - 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar (this is to cut the bitterness of the spices)
  • - 2 teaspoon of crushed basil (i used dehydrated basil)
  • - 3/4 cup of chopped onion...i used frozen, already chopped onion(or the equivalent in dehydrated onions)
  • - 2 teaspoon of crushed oregano...i used dehydrated
  • - 1/2 teaspoon of fennel seeds

  • Step 1
    In large skillet, cook ground beef, onions, and garlic until ground beef is thoroughly cooked and onions and garlic are tender. Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 1 hour. Served over spaghetti or layered between lasagna pasta.
