Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb
    fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/4 c
    butter, melted
  • 3/4 c
    beef broth
  • 1/4 c
    green onions, chopped
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 c
    sauterne or other sweet white wine
  • 1 Tbsp
    cornstarch

How to Make Mushroom-Onion Sauce

Step-by-Step

  1. Saute mushrooms in melted butter in a large skillet until tender.
  2. Add the broth, onions, and salt; stir well. Bring to a boil.
  3. Combine the wine and cornstarch; stir well. Gradually add the wine mixture to the mushroom mixture, stirring constantly. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, 1 minute or until thickened and bubbly.
  4. Serve warm over grilled steaks or hamburgers.
