Ingredients
- 1/4 cup whiskey (to your taste)
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1-2 clove garlic, minced
- 2 cups fresh or frozen dark sweet cherries, pitted and coarsely chopped
- 1/2 -3/4 cup ketchup (to your taste)
- 1/2 * 2/3 cups packed brown sugar (to your taste)
- 1/4 cup cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1/8 teaspoon liquid smoke (optional)

Step 1In a large saucepan, saute onion in olive oil until tender. Add garlic and red pepper flakes; cook 1 minute longer. Stir in the remaining ingredients. Cook, uncovered, over medium-low heat for 30 - 60 minutes or until cherries are tender and sauce is thickened, stirring occasionally.
