1 medium
onion, chopped
1 Tbsp
olive oil
1-2 clove
garlic, minced
2 c
fresh or frozen dark sweet cherries, pitted and coarsely chopped
1/2 -3/4 c
ketchup (to your taste)
1/2 * 2/3 c
packed brown sugar (to your taste)
1/4 c
cider vinegar
1 Tbsp
worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp
crushed red pepper flakes
1/8 tsp
liquid smoke (optional)

How to Make Jen's Drunken Cherry BBQ Sauce


  • 1In a large saucepan, saute onion in olive oil until tender. Add garlic and red pepper flakes; cook 1 minute longer. Stir in the remaining ingredients. Cook, uncovered, over medium-low heat for 30 - 60 minutes or until cherries are tender and sauce is thickened, stirring occasionally.
