a great way to get that deep rich flavor of cherries in your bbq sauce, great on ribs, chicken and even thick cut pork chops....

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup whiskey (to your taste)
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1-2 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen dark sweet cherries, pitted and coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 -3/4 cup ketchup (to your taste)
  • 1/2 * 2/3 cups packed brown sugar (to your taste)
  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/8 teaspoon liquid smoke (optional)

How To Make jen's drunken cherry bbq sauce

  • Step 1
    In a large saucepan, saute onion in olive oil until tender. Add garlic and red pepper flakes; cook 1 minute longer. Stir in the remaining ingredients. Cook, uncovered, over medium-low heat for 30 - 60 minutes or until cherries are tender and sauce is thickened, stirring occasionally.
