Blue Ribbon Recipe
Is caramel the new hot fudge? It is in my kitchen! This is easy to make and really good. Goes great on some ice cream, but I bet it would be tasty on other things too. Maybe some banana bread or pound cake? Yum!
Tip: You may want to use a larger pan because this does tend to bubble up when boiling and when you add the cream. Much easier clean up that way! The Test Kitchen
How to Make Caramel Sauce
- In a heavy saucepan, melt butter over medium heat; add sugar and lemon juice and cook stirring constantly 6 to 8 minutes or until mixture turns a deep caramel color.
- Gradually add cream and cook stirring constantly for 1 to 2 minutes or until smooth. Remove from heat and cool.
- Pour into hot sterilized jars and seal. Chill.
- Can be stored in refrigerator for about a week. Can heat sauce briefly in microwave also.
