This is adapted from a recipe from Kokopelli Winery in Arizona.

Ingredients

  • 24 ounces ketchup (1 bottle)
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 7 tablespoons yellow mustard (prepared)
  • 1 1/2 cups red wine (chianti is best)
  • 1 1/2 cups hot water
  • 6 tablespoons chili powder
  • 6 tablespoons ground black pepper
  • 4 tablespoons garlic salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons tabasco sauce

How To Make arizona bbq sauce

  • Step 1
    Add all ingredients to a large heavy saucepan (nonreactive) and whisk until blended.
  • Step 2
    Heat over medium-high heat until mixture begins to boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Step 3
    Cool and store, covered, in refrigerator.
