strawberry jam
I made this delicious jam with fresh berries from the corner stand for my granddaughter. When I delivered her "strawberry sauce" to her my brother offered her $5 for it. She said "No way". He asked her why and she said, "because I like my sauce!" LOL

Ingredients
- 7 cups sugar
- 5 cups strawberries, mashed
- 4 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 3/4 ounces sure jell fruit pectin
How To Make strawberry jam
-
Step 1Mash berries a bit at a time leaving it as chunky as you like. In a medium pot add berries, lemon juice & pectin. Cook on high heat stirring frequently. When it comes to a rolling boil add in all of the sugar at once (have it pre measured in a bowl before you need it.)
-
Step 2Mix in the sugar and keep stirring and bring it back to another rolling boil that you can't stir down. Once it's at a full boil again boil for 1 min and then remove from heat. Once it settles down skim off the foam.
-
Step 3Fill prepared jars, leaving ¼" head space. Be sure to wipe the top of jars to insure there isn't any sugar or the jars won't seal. Boil in water bath for 10 minutes. Then remove lid & turn off heat and allow jars to sit in the hot water for an additional 5 minutes before removing. Remove jars from the water bath onto a cooling rack or towel.

Step 4I got this recipe from a you tube video. It was my first attempt at canning & I was looking for a local class (there wasn't one) So I tuned into you tube! It was awesome. It was like going to a class and not having to drive anywhere! I love technology! <3
