This recipe is the one my Mama has used all my life so I knew it would be good. I think she got it from one of her old cook books.

Ingredients

  • 1 or 2 - jalapeno peppers, chopped, add more peppers if you want hotter
  • 1 1/2 cups vinegar
  • 6 cups sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 1 package pectin
  • - a couple of drops of red or green food coloring

How To Make pepper jelly

  • Step 1
    Put half the peppers and half the vinegar in blender, processed until peppers are liquidfied. Pour into large saucepan. Repeat with remaining peppers and vinegar. Add crushed red peppers, sugar and salt. Bring to boil and add pectin. Boil about 7 minutes. Remove from heat add a few drops of food coloring stirring to mix. Pour into sterilized jars.
