Debi McMurray, another recipe sharer inspired this dish. Thanks Debi! I made this for my boyfriend who loves biscuits and gravy. He said he couldn't tell the difference. It tasted just as good and he felt good too.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound quorn meatless crumbles (or other vegetarian substitute)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • - generous pinch of salt and pepper
  • - small pinch of red pepper flakes
  • 3 tablespoons earth balance or oil (depending on your preference
  • 2 tablespoons whole wheat flour
  • 2 cups 1/2 and 1/2

How To Make you'd never know it's not pork sausage gravy

  • Step 1
Combine sugar and spices with meatless crumbles and allow to sit for about 10 minutes.
  • Step 2
Heat a TBS of Earth Balance or oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Brown the meatless mixture until browned and then remove to a bowl.
  • Step 3
In the same skillet over medium heat add the remaining Earth Balance. Once it's melted whisk in your flour a little at a time. You may not need a full two TBSPs so keep an eye on it. Continuing to whisk until you get a nutty aroma from the flour. This shouldn't take more than a minute.
  • Step 4
Slowly whisk in 1/2 and 1/2 until you get a good gravy consistency. Salt and Pepper to taste and then add your faux sausage crumbles. Serve over your favorite biscuits. There is a great whole wheat yeast biscuit recipe that another cook shared on this site.
