yellow onions, thinly sliced
1/4 c
balsamic vinegar
1 c
low sodium beef broth
1 c
low sodium chicken broth
4 Tbsp
2 Tbsp
unsalted butter
salt and pepper, to taste

How to Make Onion-Bourbon Sauce for Steak


  • 1Melt 2 tablespoons butter in heavy large skillet over medium-low heat. Add onions and saute until golden and tender, about 12 minutes.
  • 2Add vinegar and boil until reduced by half, about 1 minute.
  • 3Add bourbon and broths and boil until slightly thickened, about 10 minutes.
  • 4Remove from heat and add remaining butter and whisk just until melted. Season with salt and pepper.
