The first time I had chocolate gravy was when I was on a sleepover at a friend's house when I was a child. As a chocolate lover, I fell in love with it. Fast forward many, many years and I'm making this for my kids and their kids and they love it just as much as I do!
This is an old southern recipe as taught to me by a lovely woman named Jewel Baker who lived down the road from me when I was a teen. I did add butter later, though. I always remember her fondly when I make this!

Ingredients

milk
2 c
sugar
6 Tbsp
flour
5 Tbsp
cocoa powder
2 Tbsp
butter
ΒΌ tsp
salt

How to Make Chocolate Gravy, Nanny's

Step-by-Step

  • 1In medium pot mix flour, salt, sugar and cocoa powder till well blended. Now pour in milk and stir till smooth. Turn heat on medium high and bring to a boil, stirring continuously for a couple of minutes. Add butter and stir in well. If too thick, add more milk. Serve over hot biscuits.
