Ingredients

  • 3 - large red apples, cut into pieces
  • 3 - tart green apples, cut into pieces
  • 5 - red pears, cut into pieces
  • 1/2 cup dates, chopped
  • 1/2 cup apricots, chopped
  • 1/2 cup figs, chopped
  • 1/4 cup sultanas (golden raisin), chopped
  • 1/4 cup cranberries
  • 1/2 - persian lime (squeeze in juice), optionally zest too
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  • 1 pinch sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • - water to cover

How To Make "mediterranean fruit" spiced applesauce

  • Step 1
    Place all ingredients in a large, heavy bottom sauce pan with a lid.
  • Step 2
    Bring to a boil and stir, then reduce heat to low/medium and cover.
  • Step 3
    Cook for an hour, stirring occasionally. When most of the water has cooked away, choose whether you want chunky or smooth applesauce.
  • Step 4
    Chunky, mash with a potato masher. Smooth, put in a food processor.
  • Step 5
    May be served hot or chilled. Store in mason jars.
