family favorite cranberry sauce
This sauce solidifies in the refrigerator. It can be made with splenda, stevia or any other sugar free substitute you prefer. I tried, one year, to add cherry brandy to it, on a coworker's suggestion, don't do it, it doesn't set with alcohol. I do a lot of special dietary changes to my recipes to accomodate my family's preferences. We have diabetic, vegan and low carb requests at every celebration. Will post a pic next week. Happy Holidays!!!

Ingredients
- 1 bag fresh cranberries
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar or the sweetener of your choice
- 1/2 teaspoon powdered ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 medium apples diced
How To Make family favorite cranberry sauce
-
Step 1Put all ingredients into a medium pot on the stove on high heat. Be careful, this concoction gets really hot and it tends to pop as the cranberries burst to let go their juicy goodness.
-
Step 2Bring to a boil, lower heat to medium or medium high, stirring constantly. Can burn quickly because of the sugar. Make sure all the cranberries are popped. (you can use your spoon against the side of the pot to accomplish this.)
-
Step 3Pour into the serving bowl you wish to use and refrigerate for at least 8 hours.
-
Step 4You can add orange zest, chopped walnuts or any other ingredients that you want to make this your own. Last year at Thanksgiving, my mom requested a second bowl for the left overs, so I always buy an extra bag of cranberries.
