debbi's homemade applesauce
(1 RATING)
This is a semi-tart applesauce. If you can't find Staymen apples, granny smith will do but you may need to add some sugar to tame the tartness. (Note: 42 pounds is equal to 1 bushel of apples.)

How To Make debbi's homemade applesauce
-
Step 1Peel, core, and cube apples into a large stock pot. (note: I have to do this in several batches.) Cook apples on stove top until soft. Run apples through a food mill. At this point you can stir in cinnamon, if desired. Pour into pint size or quart-sized jars and process in a water bath for 20 minutes.
