My fiance is getting his wisdom teeth pulled and we have left over apples from apple picking - it seemed like a good way to make something delicious and soothing while he is recovering...and a great way to finish up the apples!

Ingredients

  • 5
apples (cortland or macintosh are best)
  • 3/4 c
    water
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp
    pumpkin pie spices

    almond meal
  • 1 Tbsp
    brown sugar

How to Make Applesauce

Step-by-Step

  1. Peel, core, and dice apples.
  2. Place water, apples, 1/4 cup of sugar and cinnamon in a medium pan. Stir and heat, covered, on medium heat.
  3. Cook apples until they are soft, about 15 minutes
  4. Remove from heat. Mash apples with a potato masher (or a big spoon). It will be a little runny.
  5. Add the almond meal and remaining brown sugar. Mix well. Allow to cool. I store mine in a jar.
