applesauce
My fiance is getting his wisdom teeth pulled and we have left over apples from apple picking - it seemed like a good way to make something delicious and soothing while he is recovering...and a great way to finish up the apples!

Ingredients
- 5 - apples (cortland or macintosh are best)
- 3/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spices
- 3 tablespoons almond meal
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
How To Make applesauce
-
Step 1Peel, core, and dice apples.
-
Step 2Place water, apples, 1/4 cup of sugar and cinnamon in a medium pan. Stir and heat, covered, on medium heat.
-
Step 3Cook apples until they are soft, about 15 minutes
-
Step 4Remove from heat. Mash apples with a potato masher (or a big spoon). It will be a little runny.
-
Step 5Add the almond meal and remaining brown sugar. Mix well. Allow to cool. I store mine in a jar.
