If you are a lover of ranch dressing, whom among you, after pouring some of this rich, creamy dressing on a mess of garden fresh lettuce, would not take a bite, sigh, and say: I am home. I love a lot of different dressings but a good homemade ranch has got to be in my top five. Full Stop. Okay, this is an awesome ranch dressing, and the reason that I call it “Almost” Classic Ranch Dressing, you get people saying: That is not “my” classic ranch dressing. So, I do not wish to offend anyone by calling it classic… However, it is classic to me. So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

Ingredients

  • PLAN/PURCHASE
  • 1/4 cup fresh milk
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise, plain variety
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon buttermilk powder
  • 1 teaspoon fresh dill weed, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon distilled white vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt, kosher variety
  • 1/4 teaspoon dehydrated onions, crushed
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/8 white pepper, freshly ground

How To Make dressing essentials: almost classic ranch

  • Step 1
    PREP/PREPARE
  • Step 2
    If you put the finished recipe in the fridge for 24 hours before using, it will give the dressing a deeper flavor.
  • Step 3
    Gather your ingredients (mise en place).
  • Step 4
    Crush up the dehydrated onions, in a spice grinder, or using a mortar and pestle.
  • Step 5
    Add all the ingredients to a bowl.
  • Step 6
    Whisk together, and store in the fridge, using a non-reactive jar, with a tightly-fitting lid. Do not forget to do a final tasting for proper seasoning.

    Chef’s Note: This dressing will last for 7 – 10 days, so only make as much as you can use in that amount of time.
