catalina dressing
This recipe was passed to me from another "Navy wife" back in the 80's. It's a little on the sweeter side but don't let that scare you! It's just delicious on a spinach salad with red onion slices, bacon and fresh mushrooms. Some of my friends dress the salad with the dressing while it's warm, My family likes it chilled! Gotta love a recipe with "options" (and) in 2004 I did Atkins, and made it with Splenda and Heinz reduced sugar ketchup and it was great!

How To Make catalina dressing
-
Step 1Measure everything in a small (2 qt) saucepan and whisk until you no longer see any oil separation.
-
Step 2place pan on medium heat, heat stirring until sugar is dissolved, it doesn't need to come to a boil, just until the graininess is gone. cool and put in your MOST decorative container!
-
Step 3This dressing keeps well in the fridge. I've had some for 6 weeks and it tasted perfect. Just give it a GOOD SHAKE!!!
