Here's one you'll make all summer long! It's great on hot dogs, burgers,for dipping potato wedges, or whatever else you'd use ketchup for. We love it on meatloaf. I've been a member here for a while, but this is the first recipe I've posted(finally!)

Ingredients

  • 2 (16oz) cans tomato puree (or 2 cups fresh tomato puree)
  • 1 large onion, minced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • 1 - chipotle pepper, chopped (from a can of chipotles in adobo)
  • 1 - 2 tablespoons adobo sauce (from the can of chipotles in adobo)
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper (fresh ground preferably)
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice

How To Make chipotle ketchup

  • Step 1
    Cook onions, over medium heat until translucent.
  • Step 2
    Add the pureed tomatoes to the onions and mix in; add all the remaining ingredients, except the lime juice.
  • Step 3
    Simmer uncovered, stirring frequently, until thick, about 1 hour.
  • Step 4
    Remove from heat and let the mixture cool down a little before adding it to a blender.
  • Step 5
    Add the lime juice and puree.
