Ingredients

  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon corn syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 tablespoon real vanilla extract
  • 1/2 bag miniature marshmallows
  • 1/2 - 1 cups chopped nuts (optional)

How To Make yummy hot fudge topping

  • Step 1
    1. Melt butter in a saucepan or saucier (saucepan with rounded bottom - see photo) on medium high heat.
  • Step 2
    2. Whisk in the cocoa powder until smooth.
  • Step 3
    3. Add in the sugar and salt. Stir until both are completely dissolved.
  • Step 4
    4. Add the corn syrup.
  • Step 5
    5. Gradually stir in the milk. Keep stirring until the fudge sauce is thick and smooth.
  • Step 6
    6. Add the vanilla.
  • Step 7
    7. Stir in the marshmallows until they are melted.
  • Step 8
    8. Keep stirring the mixture until it comes to a boil. Take off the heat. Add nuts if desired.
  • Step 9
    9. Serve warm over ice cream and/or brownies. It will thicken as it cools. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator.
