This tuna salad recipe was given to me by a local restaurateur. I loved his version so much that he relented and gave me the recipe. And then I tweaked it with a couple "extras."

Ingredients

Add to Grocery List

2 can(s)
(5 oz. ea.) solid white albacore tuna
1/3 c
finely chopped celery hearts
1/2 c
hellman's real mayonnaise
1/4 c
finely chopped onion or 1 tbsp. minced onion
1 tsp
real lemon juice
1/3 c
chopped walnuts
1 dash(es)
dill weed

How to Make ELLEN'S "FAMOUS" TUNA SALAD

Step-by-Step

  • 1In a medium size bowl, combine the tuna with the mayonnaise (do NOT use Miracle Whip--it won't taste the same). Mix well, breaking up chunks of tuna.
  • 2Fold in celery, onion, and lemon juice until well blended.
  • 3Add walnuts and dill. Toss. Serve on thick slices of rye or pumpernickel.
  • 4If I'm only making this for myself I cut the recipe in half. It can easily be halved, doubled, or tripled for more people.
