A nice surprise to the traditional Waldorf Salad!

Ingredients

  • 1 can 9 1/4 oz. can tuna, packed in water (drained and flaked)
  • 1 large apple, cored and chopped
  • 1/3 cup celery, chopped
  • 1/3 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1/3 cup raisins, currants or chopped pitted dates
  • 1/2 cup plain nonfat yogurt (or lowfat)
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • - large lettuce leaves
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar or monterey jack cheese (2 ounces)

How To Make crunchy tuna waldorf salad

  • Step 1
    In a medium bowl, combine tuna, apple, celery, walnuts and raisins; set aside.
  • Step 2
    In a small bowl combine yogurt and mayonnaise. Add to tuna-fruit mixture; toss gently. Cover, chill before serving.
  • Step 3
    To serve, line 4 salad plates with lettuce leaves. Sprinkle cheese over lettuce. Spoon tuna-fruit mixture on top of cheese.
