kittybusia's sour cream cucumbers

This recipe is from my grandma who came over from Poland in 1900. Just basic no frills wich lets cucumbers be star of show. Execellent on a hot day.** Make sure you let cukes sit in salt for 15-20 min. then drain**

Ingredients

  • 1 - large cucumber
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 - sweet onion
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • - pepper to taste

How To Make kittybusia's sour cream cucumbers

  • Step 1
    Slice cucumber, with or without skin, into thin slices
  • Step 2
    Place cukes in bowl and sprinkle with salt, toss and let sit 15-20 min.(,sitting longer is ok, I forget sometimes) Drain water from bowl
  • Step 3
    In seperate bowl mix sour cream, vinegar and pepper mix well.
  • Step 4
    After draining cukes thin slice a sweet onion, as much or as little as you want. Just make sure some gets in there
  • Step 5
    Pour sour cream mixture over cukes and onions and chill for at least 30 min.
