This came from a dear friend (who is no longer with us) many years ago. This makes enough to share and I never had a problem with having people to share it with. All who have tried it have loved it, even kids who didn't like onions :)

Ingredients

elbow macaroni, cooked and drained
1 large
onion, chopped
1 large
green bell pepper, chopped
4
carrots, shredded
1 can(s)
sweetened condensed milk, not evaporated
1 c
white vinegar
1 tsp
salt
1 c
sugar
1/4 tsp
pepper
1 1/2 c
mayonnaise

How to Make Irene's vegetable and macaroni salad

Step-by-Step

  • 1Cook macaroni until barely tender. Drain and rinse with cold water. Put in large bowl and set aside.
  • 2Add the vegetables to the macaroni and mix well.
  • 3Combine condensed milk, vinegar, sugar, mayonnaise, salt and pepper.Mix well.
    Add to the macaroni mixture and combine thoroughly.
  • 4Chill at least 4 hours before serving.
