This is an old Southern slaw recipe I found folded up on a piece of paper in an old cookbook at my Moms. She had written "Good" on the side of the page.

Ingredients
- 1 medium cabbage, shredded, about 3 pounds
- 1 large onion, choppped
- 1 medium green bell pepper, chopped (optional)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup white vinegar
- 3/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon celery seeds
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
How To Make slaw

Step 1Combine the cabbage, onions, and green peppers (if using) in a large bowl. Sprinkle with sugar and stir well.

Step 2Cover and chill for 2 hours.

Step 3Combine the vinegar and remaining ingredients in a saucepan; bring to a boil and stir until the salt dissolves.

Step 4Pour the hot vinegar mixture over the cabbage mixture; toss well.

Step 5Cover and chill at least 2 hours. Serve with a slotted spoon.
