This is a summer delicacy. It must be made with only the freshest of ingredients. Sun drenched tomatoes and basil from your garden. Years ago when I first started making this salad I used regular mozzarella, I have since learned about fresh mozzarella and what a difference it makes in this salad. I garnish with a few of the marinated olives I keep on hand in the refrigerator. This salad is a nice lunch with a good bread.

Ingredients

  • - fresh sliced garden tomatoes
  • - fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • - fresh basil leaves
  • - olive oil, extra virgin
  • - kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

How To Make mozzarella caprese

  • Step 1
    Slice tomatoes and arrange on serving platter or individual plates. Sprinkle with salt and a few grinds of pepper, top with a slice of fresh mozzarella and a basil leaf. Drizzle with olive oil and serve.
  • Step 2
    Add marinated black olives as a garnish if desired.
