Ingredients
- 1 pound young dandelions
- 4 slices bacon (diced)
- 3 medium onions (finely chopped)
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon water
- 2 teaspoons finley chopped herbs (she don't say what but i used parsley and some garlic)
How To Make grandmas dandelion salad ( lowenzahnsalat)
-
Step 1Remove blossoms from dandelions (save) grandma used the tops to make wine.
-
Step 2Cut stems and youngest leaves into small pieces and wash.
-
Step 3Fry bacon and onions, place in salad bowl together with dandelion leaves. (I did not drain all the grease from the bacon and onions left about 1 Tablespoon but did cool it a little before adding it to the dandelion.)
-
Step 4Combine vinegar, sugar, salt, water and herbs to make a salad dressing. Pour over salad and toss just before serving.
