Ingredients

  • 1 pound young dandelions
  • 4 slices bacon (diced)
  • 3 medium onions (finely chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 teaspoons finley chopped herbs (she don't say what but i used parsley and some garlic)

How To Make grandmas dandelion salad ( lowenzahnsalat)

  • Step 1
Remove blossoms from dandelions (save) grandma used the tops to make wine.
  • Step 2
Cut stems and youngest leaves into small pieces and wash.
  • Step 3
Fry bacon and onions, place in salad bowl together with dandelion leaves. (I did not drain all the grease from the bacon and onions left about 1 Tablespoon but did cool it a little before adding it to the dandelion.)
  • Step 4
Combine vinegar, sugar, salt, water and herbs to make a salad dressing. Pour over salad and toss just before serving.
