You put all this ordinary stuff together & leave it in the refrigerator overnight and while you sleep, elves come and do magic things to it!

method Refrigerate/Freeze
yield 8 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • - coarsely chopped fresh spinach
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked crisp
  • 4 - hard boiled eggs
  • - iceberg lettuce, torn
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • - salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 can sliced water chestnuts
  • medium red or white onion
  • 1 - green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 package 10 oz. frozen green peas
  • 1 cup sour cream, mixed with 1 cup real mayonnaise
  • - grated swiss cheese to cover top
  • - tomatoes for garnish ( i like cherry or grape tomatoes, sliced in half)

How To Make elf bait salad

  • Step 1
Use a glass flat bottomed bowl for this, 3-4 quart capacity, approximately 10-12" in diameter at least 4 " deep.
  • Step 2
Wash and chop spinach place in bottom of bowl. Layer remaining ingredients, one at a time, in the order listed above, up through the frozen peas
  • Step 3
Pack the salad down slightly, then spread the sour cream-mayonnaise mixture over the top so the entire surface is covered. Ingredients must be completely sealed, the elves demand it!
  • Step 4
Cover with plastic wrap (no exception here!) and refrigerate overnight. Just before serving, remove plastic wrap and garnish with Swiss cheese and tomatoes.
