I had this salad at a popular restaurant in Las Vegas and decided to make a couple improvements. It has become a family favorite and makes a nice presentation when it's served to guests.

Ingredients

  • 1 large romaine lettuce head
  • 1/2 package grape tomatos, sliced
  • 1 pint mozzarella balls or fresh mozzarella
  • 1 jar hearts of palm
  • 1/2 jar kalamata (greek) olives, pitted
  • 1 clove garlic, to rub plate
  • 3 tablespoons white balsamic vinegar
  • 2-3 tablespoons olive oil, extra virgin
  • 1/4 teaspoon italian seasoning or herbs de provence
  • - salt and pepper to taste

How To Make hearts of palm salad

  • Step 1
    Rub a large platter with clove of fresh garlic.
  • Step 2
    Wash Romaine lettuce, tear into bite-sized pieces and dry (in a salad spinner, if possible)
  • Step 3
    Spread lettuce on platter.
  • Step 4
    Arrange tomatoes, bite-sized pieces of cheese, sliced hearts of palm and kalamata olives over lettuce.
  • Step 5
    Sprinkle olive oil, vinegar, italizn seasoning and salt and pepper to taste.
  • Step 6
    Chill until ready to serve.
