Hearty,interesting and soooo easy. ANYTHING goes with this one !This is always made for LARGE GATHERINGS ONLY ! But what a salad !

Ingredients

  • 1 medium head iceberg lettuce
  • 1 bunch romain lettuce
  • 1-sm. bunch bib lettuce
  • 2-3 large bags mixed greens
  • 5 large tomatoes (any kind/color)
  • 1 stalk celery
  • 6 or more large carrots
  • 6 large cucumbers ( any kind)
  • 2-3 large purple onions
  • 1 large dozen eggs
  • 1 bag any flavor shredded cheese
  • 2 cans garbonzo peas
  • 1 bag radish
  • 1/2 medium purple cabbage
  • 1 package thick bacon
  • 2-3 large green, red ,yellow peppers
  • 5 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 4 teaspoons fresh ground multi-corn black pepper
  • 5-6 teaspoons oregano.dried or fresh
  • 4-5 teaspoons cilantro. dried or fresh
  • 1-2 package seasoned/flavored crutons
  • 2-3 large bottles of california french dressing( make sure it the red dressing.

How To Make california trash salad for picnics

  • Step 1
    Your going to need a VERY big container for this salad so make sure you have what you need before you start. I have told people to use their large canning cooker pots in need be. Hey, it works...
  • Step 2
    Wash up all you lettuce and greens first. Slice up all your lettuce. 1: CLIP your greens. DO NOT DICE WITH KNIFE.Add these to your container. 2: Dice your celery,radish,cucumber,carrots,purple cabbage,peppers and lastly your tomatoes. 3: Mix these together, hold aside.

    4: Boil you eggs for 20 minutes. Peel and dice. 5: Cook and drain your bacon. You want it cooked so it's crispy and breakable. 6: Open and drain cans of Garbanzo peas. 7: Open your selected shredded cheese
  • Step 4
    8: Start assembling with your gently mixed by hand lettuce & greens into your container first. You may now add your spice condiments. IE:Pepper,salt and Oregano & cilantro. Please note that if you have fresh Oregano & Cilantro from the garden, PLEASE USE ! 8: Now you can add all your other ingredients and toss as gently as you can without "Killing the salad"... There is a lot there to turn and mix... Let people add their own dressing. I only offer California French because of WHAT IT DOES FOR TASTE for this salad. It keeps them coming back for more...
